FEELTEK Solution for Complex Surface Cleaning

A Solution for Complex Surface Cleaning: FEELTEK 3D Laser Technology Delivers Efficient and Precise Oxide Removal

Removing oxide layers from aluminum alloy work pieces without damaging the substrate is a common industrial challenge faced by many manufacturers. Through collaborative projects with system integrators, FEELTEK has successfully overcome such demanding applications and developed solutions.

Project Background

Removing oxide coating from a 200*100mm aluminum alloy work pieces

JPT 80W MOPA fiber laser

400*400mm working field at 480mm focal length.

Completed in a single pass within 15 seconds.

The Core Challenges:

◾Complex Contours: Symmetrical slopes with a maximum 20mm height variation, demanding a large depth of field from the laser system.

◾ Uniform Accuracy: Requires consistent and even cleaning results across the entire 45°slope at top corner. while ensuring the inner walls of the groove are smooth and clean.

◾Substrate Protection: Must completely avoid any thermal damage to the aluminum alloy base material.

Addressing the challenge:

This video demonstrates the precise and uniform laser cleaning process on the product.

The Collaborative Solution by FEELTEK and System Integrator:

Deep 3D Processing: The FEELTEK FR20-F scan head delivers a 200mm vertical processing depth, enabling precise laser operations within a 400×400mm field while supporting an expanded 600×600mm working area.

Uniform Spot Quality: With synchronized Z-axis and XY scanner control, the dynamic focus system maintains a consistent laser spot across complex surfaces, ensuring uniform oxide removal — even on 60° slopes. Additionally, micron-level Z-axis adjustments deliver smooth, burr-free finishing on groove inner walls.

Efficient ProductionThis integrated solution enables single-pass processing of the entire complex work piece within 11 seconds, streamlining production and ensuring consistent results.

Protected Substrate: Through rigorous joint optimization, parameters of 5000mm/s and 50kHz were finalized. These settings ensure complete oxide layer removal while preventing any thermal damage to the aluminum substrate.
